"Hop in my chrysler, it's as big as a whale and it's about to set sail
I got me a car, it seats about twenty, so come on and bring your jukebox money...Love shack, baby love shack!
    You're what??
    TIN ROOOOFF!!! Rusted!"

This is a B-52s kinda love shack full o' tacos and brews and chill time, even at lunch. I've been here twice for take out, recently.

*vibe: very casual, bring your family and friends, hang out, watch the tube; indoor and patio seating to get your D vitamins; bar-height and standard-height tables; moderate noise, but come on, this is not candle-light dining; there appears to be a real tin or alloy roof atop the open-kitchen area. Alloy would be better to avoid that dreaded rust. The place was about at 2/3 capacity the times I went. That is often a good sign.

*menu - breakfast, desserts, carnivorous and vegan TACO choices, chips, soda pop & other bevs

-highlights:  !The pickled red onions and tangy cotija cheese absolutely make the pulled pork tacos un eleccion excelente! Also, the salsa on the chicken fajita tacos tasted really fresh and juicy. I should've ordered just a mega salsa taco with salsa on the side. My hubba-hubba hubby's faves were the roasted corn, and the black bean veggie tacos. Oh, those soft, good-moisture-content, thin but sturdy tortillas - better than expected!

-lowlights: (unrelated: We ladies get lowlights at your hairdresser's to bring out the highlights.) The chicken and pork tacos were a little too spicy for our taste, but objectively, they were likely on the mild side, and they probably don't even register as spicy for many of you fire-breathing taco Godzillas out there! Also, the chicken was a little dry, but still edible.  We haven't tried the seafood and beef tacos yet.

*service, prices - The young folks who take your order at the counter were cheerful, and they thankfully opened another register during a busy time. The cooks were hard at work assembling orders, and I like that everyone looked to chip in to help get things moving faster here.
$2.25 - 2.50 per taco, pre-tax. Nicely affordable, even if you get several for a group/family. You might have to wait a while in line, as sometimes customers ahead of you don't know what they want. Even if you call ahead, there's no separate line for To Go orders, durn it! Ah well, Tin Roof - lusted! for the tacos.

The tacos are great and our experience would have been wonderful if the place had been cleaner.  We were at the Meridian location and it was very dirty. We were there at about 2:30 pm on Saturday and it wasn't even half full (i.e. not very busy). The tables and chairs had not been wiped down in some time and the floor was greasy and had bits of food all over. The tray return and garbage can were especially dirty. There were a lot of flies as well.

A bit more attention to cleanliness would be much appreciated!

Update:  while writing my review I watched a young staff member organize chairs and attempt to wipe the tables. His efforts amounted to wiping the food around and onto the seats of the chairs. Then I witnessed him, dirty rag in hand, place more plastic lids for soda cups in the small lid holder near the soda fountains. Clearly more training of staff on proper cleaning and generally accepted hygiene practices is needed.

Liked it a lot. Tried 6 different kinds of tacos and liked all of them. Reasonably priced, staff seemed nice, I'd go back. Curious if the location in Boise is that different. Location is a little out of the way from the highway. Wish I would have gotten a jarrito drink instead of fountain soda.

I heard so many people rave about this place - I was excited to go. I wasn't impressed at all. I guess my expectations were higher. The food is ok, for what you pay - I think there should be more. Maybe I will try again to see if they have improved.

I just went in this afternoon to get my daughter a couple of tacos. I was watching the guy chop the tomatoes and he had gloves on. I started to watch him and was horrified. We are new to the area and my family is in the food business. The kid preparing the food was so unsanitary. It was bad! I asked the other guy to tell him to change his gloves and it made them mad. So I started looking around and the place was filthy! We love tacos and it's so close to us but I can't bring myself to go back in to that place. It's too bad.
